General Information
At Warden ("we," "us," or "our"), we value the privacy of our users ("you"). This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information through our Chrome Extension (the "Extension").
Our core focus is helping you do deep work. We do not sell your personal information, track your browsing history for profit, or use your data for advertising.
Executive Summary (Plain-Language)
- →Browsing History: We never see or store your browsing history. Blocklist matching happens 100% locally in your browser.
- →Personal Data: In MVP, we collect zero personal data. In V1, we only collect an email address for optional account syncing.
- →Third Parties: We do not share data with third parties for marketing. We only use Supabase for account infrastructure.
- →Storage: Your settings and history stay on your machine (via Chrome storage) by default.
The Data We Collect
We collect minimal information required to provide Extension features. We distinguish between configuration data and personal identity data.
The URLs you choose to block during sessions. Stored locally only.
Focus time, rest durations, and lap counts. Stored locally only.
The text you type as your session anchor. Cleared after session.
Total sessions completed and total focus hours. Stored locally only.
For authentication and account recovery only. Never shared.
Your blocklists and session presets are encrypted and synced across your Chrome devices.
Anonymous counts of completed sessions to display in your user dashboard.
Account creation date and last login time for security purposes.
Why We Collect It
- — To enforce the focus sessions you configure.
- — To allow you to sync your settings across multiple computers (V1).
- — To provide you with private productivity insights and history.
- — To handle authentication and account security.
- — To prevent abuse of our services or violations of Google's policies.
Permissions & Technical Access
To function as a forced-focus tool, Warden requires specific Chrome browser permissions. We declare these in our Extension manifest and they are subject to Google's Limited Use Policy.
🔒 No Remote URL Scraping: We do not transmit the URLs of the pages you visit to our servers. All matching is done within the Extension's local scope.
Local & Sync Storage
By default, all your data resides in your browser profile using the chrome.storage.local API. If you uninstall the Extension or clear your browser data, this information is permanently deleted from your device.
If you are signed into Chrome and have "Sync" enabled, some settings (like your blocklist) may be synced by Google across your devices via chrome.storage.sync. This sync uses Google's infrastructure — not ours.
If you choose to create a Warden Account in V1, your encrypted focus history and settings are stored using Supabase. This allows for cross-device history and account-based features.
Data Retention & Deletion
- Local DataRemoved immediately when you uninstall the Extension or manually clear the browser cache.
- Account Data (V1)If you delete your account from the Warden settings panel, all associated cloud data is purged from our database within 30 days.
- Backup & LogsWe may retain minimal log data (error logs, security logs) for up to 90 days to maintain system integrity. These logs do not contain personal browsing activity.
Third-Party Services
We limit third-party exposure to only what is necessary for service delivery:
Supabase: Used for authentication and database management for synced accounts.
Google Play / CWS Billing: Handles subscription payments. Warden does not receive your credit card details.
We do not use tracking pixels, invasive analytics (like Google Analytics), or third-party ad networks within the Extension.
Your Rights
Regardless of your location, we provide the following rights to all users:
The Right to Access
You can view all data we have on you by simply checking the Extension's settings and dashboard.
The Right to Rectify
You can update your email or configuration settings at any time within the Extension.
The Right to Delete
You can uninstall the Extension or delete your V1 account to purge your data.
The Right to Object
You can object to our processing of any data not essential to core Extension functionality.
Security
Warden uses industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption for all communication between the Extension and our servers (V1). We use Supabase's security infrastructure for database protection.
Please note that no method of transmission over the internet or local electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Legal Compliance
Warden is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we discover a user is under 13, we will delete their data immediately.
This Policy is designed to comply with the Google Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the requirement for "Prominent Disclosure" and "Limited Use."
